Kiva Guidroz opened the first Portobello's Grill in 1996 after growing up learning the industry in two of Baton Rouge's premier Italian restaurants. Since then, he's worked to assemble outstanding management, service and culinary teams dedicated to the motto: "Every Guest. Every Plate. Every Day."


In 2020, Chef Peter Sclafani served as Kiva's restaurant consultant. Quickly realizing that their goals, backgrounds and values matched perfectly, they decided to work together as co-owners. The new team promptly began work to revamp the established Portobello's Grill brand identity, environments and menus. Timing is everything, and the restaurants' temporary closures caused by COVID-19 provided the opportunity to make much-needed renovations, beginning with the Bocage location, where they worked for months to create a "modern neighborhood steakhouse" feel. The updated branding and menus have since been applied to the Jones Creek location. Portobello's Grill continues to provide patrons with high-quality food, drink and service.


The original Portobello's motto, "Every Guest. Every Plate. Every Day." continues to be the driving force as the restaurant aims to become a local spot where the community dines in for a business lunch, happy hour, special occasion or anything in between.
